The Supreme Public Prosecutor, Zagorka Dolovac, together with
public prosecutors of the Supreme Public Prosecution Office specialized in the
fields of international legal assistance, human rights and civil liberties,
held a working meeting on 20 May 2026
with the Commissioner for Human Rights,
Mr. Michael O’Flaherty,
and members of his delegation at the headquarters of the Supreme Public
Prosecution Office, at the proposal of the Council of Europe Commissioner for
Human Rights Office.
During the meeting, discussions
focused on the position of the public prosecution office in light of the
elections for the High Prosecutorial Council, the adoption of amendments to the
key prosecution laws in January 2026, and the actions taken by public
prosecution offices in connection with incidents and criminal offenses in which
media representatives were primarily the injured parties. Other matters
discussed included incidents which, according to information from the
Commissioner’s Office, involved violations of human rights and freedoms
guaranteed by the European Convention
for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms,
which the Republic of Serbia
adopted in 2003.
